Mark Shveima, a Certified Anusara Teacher, is leading a workshop "Introduction to Anusara: Opening to the Flow of Grace" at Yoga Tribe on Aug 8th.


Anusara™ means “to flow with the universal presence of grace”, in sanskrit. The Anusara method is a dynamic practice in which Universal Principles of Alignment™ are used in a sequential, practical way, to maximize strength and flexibility. The asana practice is supported by a heart-centered tantric philosophy that encourages empowerment and exploration of our deepest emotional core.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the five foundational alignment principles of the Anusara practice. As you learn how to physically embody these principles, you will also explore the intellectual and emotional aspects of the practice. When the actions we create with the body are connected to the heart, we become more lucid and skillful in everything we say and do.

About Mark Shveima
Mark is a Certified Anusara Teacher. He has been practicing hatha yoga since 1996, and teaching for over a decade. He has completed 500 hours of training with John Friend, the founder of Anusara.

In 2007, he was initiated into a lineage of non-dual Shaiva tantra by Paul Muller-Ortega, considered one of the top scholars of tantra in the world. In 2008, he completed a year-long immersion with Paul in meditation and scriptural study. Mark is currently engaged in his second phase of study with Paul.

In September 2008 he relocated to Kyoto from San Francisco, where he teaches weekly classes in the Kansai area. Mark teaches public workshops and continuing education for teachers throughout Japan.

Mark is known for his insightful and inspirational teaching, and unwavering commitment to serve each individual`s needs. He is grateful for every student, and takes delight in bearing witness to the unfolding of greatness within each and every one.
